报告介绍:
Genetic variation plays an important role in individual susceptibility to many common diseases. A few genetics and genomics approaches are available for identifying the gene or genetic variants associated with these human complex diseases. In this talk, the speaker will introduce a use of the cost-efficient genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping array in a genetic study of addictions and related mental disorders in large samples. The studies that will be presented include a SNP association study in antisocial personality disorder, and a copy number variation (CNV) study in opiate dependence. The speaker will also introduce the available funding opportunities for prospective students who are looking for Ph.D. in computational genomics at the University of Vermont.
